The 2018 ECE-RJ Israel Experience
A group of 40 educators, including directors, teachers, clergy, and specialists. explored the land of
Israel through the early childhood Jewish educator lens. It was a trip of a lifetime! It was also a
beautiful way to celebrate the 18th anniversary of our organization.
The 10-day amazing educational adventure, sponsored by ECE-RJ in partnership with Hebrew Union
College-Jewish Institute of Religion School of Education with focus on applying concepts inherent in
Israeli culture and values to our work with families with young children.
We participated in meaningful, high-level exploration of the land, the people, and the educational
landscape of Israel which deepened our personal connections to Israel. We visited high quality early
childhood programs, met with and learned from premier early childhood educators. The itinerary was
designed by The Israel Experience along with a small group of early childhood colleagues, Dr. Lesley
Litman (Director of the Executive M.A. Program in Jewish Education at HUC-JIR and iCenter
consultant, and Shira Ackerman Simkovitch) Attendees were joined by Shira Kline who brought depth
and meaning to the experience through daily reflection, song and joy.
